How to cut out a car

  1. Shoot the car with space around it, ideally against a plain wall or open sky, and avoid other vehicles overlapping it.

  2. Drop the photo into cutoutpic. The car is detected automatically — there is nothing to select.

  3. Download the transparent PNG and place it on your listing background in any editor. Add a soft shadow underneath so it does not float.

What to watch for with cars

  • Reflections: glossy paint and glass mirror the surroundings. The model keeps the reflection as part of the car — that is correct, but a reflected car park will still be visible in the paint.
  • Windows: what is seen through the glass stays; the model does not cut out the interior.
  • Shadows: the ground shadow under the car is sometimes kept, sometimes dropped. Plan to add your own soft shadow for a consistent look.
  • Thin parts: antennas, roof rails and spokes may be smoothed over; check the wheel arches and the gaps between spokes before you use the cutout.

Consistent listings

Photograph every car from the same angles and at the same distance, then remove the backgrounds and place each cutout on the same backdrop. Consistency is most of what makes a listing look professional; the cutout only does the first half.

Resolution

The free preview is capped at 1280 px on the longer side, which suits marketplace thumbnails and gallery images. Hero banners and print need a higher resolution than the free preview provides.

Questions about this use

Can I process a whole lot of inventory photos?

One image at a time for now — drop the next as soon as the previous download finishes. Batch processing is on the roadmap.

Are car photos uploaded to your servers?

No — in the free preview the model runs in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.

Why does the paint still show the old background?

That is a reflection in the paint, not leftover background. The cutout is correct; only reshooting in a different spot or retouching the paint removes it.
