Remove image backgrounds

Your image is processed inside your browser. It is never sent to a server.

Accepts JPEG, PNG, WebPUp to 12 MBOutputs PNG with transparency

cutoutpic is a free background remover that runs entirely in your browser. Drop in a JPEG, PNG or WebP photo and a segmentation model separates the subject from the background on your own device — nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and the result is a PNG with a transparent background.

How to remove a background in three steps

  1. 1

    Choose an image

Drop a JPEG, PNG or WebP file onto the canvas, click to pick one, or paste it from the clipboard. Files up to 12 MB.

  2. 2

    Wait a few seconds

The model downloads once and runs on your device. A fast preview appears first; with graphics acceleration a refined pass follows automatically.

  3. 3

    Download the PNG

Check the edges against the checkerboard and download a PNG with a transparent background. No watermark, no sign-up.

Why use cutoutpic

Nothing is uploaded
The free preview runs inside your browser. Your photo never reaches a server — you can verify it in the Network tab of your devtools.
Free, no account, no watermark
Open the page and start. There is no sign-up wall, no daily quota and no watermark on the result.
Runs in your browser, nothing to install
No app and no extension: a current browser with WebAssembly SIMD is all it needs. WebGPU unlocks the refined tier; other browsers use the compatibility path.
Honest about limits
The free preview is capped at 1280 px on the longer side, and loose hair is the hardest case for both quality tiers. We say so up front rather than after the download.

Common questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser downloads a segmentation model and runs it on your device, so the image never leaves it — the free preview has no upload path at all. A paid full-resolution export is planned; if you ever choose it, that will be the only case in which an image is sent to a server.
Do I need an account?
No. The free preview opens and works, with no sign-up and no usage limit.
Which formats are supported?
Input: JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 12 MB. Output: a PNG with an alpha channel, at most 1280 px on the longer side.
